Analysis and Approaches is organised across five compulsory topics: number and algebra; functions; geometry and trigonometry; statistics and probability; and calculus. AA emphasises mathematical reasoning, algebraic manipulation, generalisation and the ability to construct and communicate arguments. AA SL and HL: choose the right depth

Both AA SL and AA HL cover all five topics and complete a mathematical exploration. SL is designed for 150 recommended teaching hours, including the exploration, while HL is designed for 240 hours and extends the course substantially. AA HL develops more advanced algebra, proof, functions, geometry and calculus and includes a third external examination paper. That makes the level label as important as the course label when selecting a resource.

Choose an “SL only” product for a focused Standard Level sequence. Choose “SL/HL” when you need the shared core plus clearly connected Higher Level development, or when one department teaches both levels.
