Overview
QuickTex is a Chrome extension that provides an inline LaTeX equation composer for Google Docs. Its single purpose is to let you open a composer, enter LaTeX, preview the rendered equation, and submit the resulting equation payload for insertion into the current Google Docs document through a configured Google Apps Script bridge.
This policy explains what QuickTex stores, what it sends to Google services as part of that workflow, and what it does not collect.
Information QuickTex Stores
QuickTex uses Chrome storage only for extension-related settings and workflow state. This may include:
- The configured Google Apps Script deployment ID, stored in Chrome sync storage so you do not need to re-enter it on each signed-in Chrome profile.
- Local composer preferences, such as display mode settings.
- A recent equation payload list used by the extension workflow.
These values are used only to operate QuickTex. QuickTex does not use Chrome storage to access or store unrelated browsing data.
Information Processed When You Insert an Equation
When you submit an equation for insertion into Google Docs, QuickTex may process the LaTeX you entered, the rendered equation payload, the current Google Docs document identifier, and the configured Apps Script deployment ID.
QuickTex uses Chrome identity only to request a Google authentication token for the signed-in user when needed to call the Google Apps Script Execution API. That token is used to authenticate the insertion request to the configured Apps Script bridge. QuickTex does not ask you for your Google password and does not use the token for unrelated account access.
Google Docs Access
QuickTex runs only on Google Docs editor pages because that access is required to show the composer UI, understand the current editor context, preview the equation locally, and obtain the document identifier needed for the insertion request.
QuickTex is not designed to collect your web history, monitor pages outside its declared Google Docs host permission, or read unrelated browsing activity.
Analytics and Chrome Web Store Metrics
QuickTex does not include third-party analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or tracking pixels in the extension. Google may provide the developer with Chrome Web Store dashboard metrics such as impressions, installs, uninstalls, users, and ratings for the store listing. Those store-listing metrics are provided by Google and are used to understand extension distribution and listing performance.
Remote Code
QuickTex does not load or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. Executable code is packaged in the extension bundle uploaded to the Chrome Web Store. Network requests to Google APIs are used to send and receive data for the configured Apps Script bridge, not to download or run code.
Information QuickTex Does Not Collect
QuickTex does not intentionally collect:
- Health information.
- Financial or payment information.
- Passwords, security questions, or PINs.
- Precise location data.
- Unrelated web history.
- Keystroke logs, mouse position logs, or scroll monitoring.
Sharing and Sale of Data
QuickTex does not sell user data. QuickTex does not transfer user data to third parties except as necessary to operate the extension's single purpose, such as sending an authenticated request to Google APIs and the configured Apps Script bridge for Google Docs insertion.
QuickTex does not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose and does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Data Retention and Control
Settings and recent equation workflow data remain in Chrome storage until you clear them, reset the extension, or uninstall QuickTex. You can also revoke Google account access for the extension through your Google Account permissions.
Children's Privacy
QuickTex is a productivity tool for composing LaTeX equations in Google Docs. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy if QuickTex's functionality, permissions, or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when a new version is published.
